The instinct is old.
The instrument is new.
A system with memory does not repeat itself exactly; it returns to the neighbourhood of where it has been. The band is that neighbourhood, built from every pass through it. The mark is a return.

The urge to grow what you have and secure tomorrow is older than any market. Every era invented another answer to it — the ledger, the exchange, the fund.
